The owner of a pristine 1963 Jaguar 3.8 Mk 2 saloon classic introduced me to his pride and joy recently. Previous owners had spared no expense restoring this automotive gem from the ground up, and when the new owner approached me about caring for the leather upholstery, I was delighted at the opportunity.
Sitting in the front seat of the Jaguar while cleaning the centre console and leather gearstick cover, I couldn't help but feel as though I had been transported back to the 1960's. The car looked almost as if it had just been driven off the showroom floor, with the only evident non-standard parts being the seatbelts and a more recently installed audio system, no doubt to complete the perfect driving experience on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
